Publicly named by Tiesto as one of his top 5 favourite DJs, Serge Devant's career so far is littered with outstanding achievements. Back in the days, he became the youngest resident DJ to tear up New York's legendary Crobar and Tunnel as well as bagging himself a spot on DJ Mag's coveted Top 100 List which is no mean feat. It is his high octane and uplifting sets that have set him apart.
The Russian born, New York resident Serge Devant is turning heads. Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Damian Lazarus and Hot Since 82 have already acknowledged that he is an extremely impressive producer on the scene, and with releases on their labels like This Moment EP on Crosstown Rebels and Third Planet EP on Rebellion, it's easy to see why Serge is a producer rapidly making a mark. The Russia-born producer started life in classical music, receiving training at the Music School of Saint Petersburg . He weaves classical elements with more forward-thinking, electronic structures for a novel, innovative take on the dance and progressive house music.
Growing up in Russia, Serge was first exposed to electronic music at an early age, influenced by the seminal sounds of Jean Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, and many others. Equipped with a classical music education, the teenage Devant moved to New York City in the 90s with his family, and instantly fell in love with his new home.
Developing an insatiable taste for music and 24 hour nightlife, he frequented local haunts like the legendary Sound Factory, Twilo, and Tunnel when he was just 16, before trawling through the city's record stores in search of the music he was hearing in the clubs. Taking to the decks, he soon garnered the attention of several local promoters and the young Serge landed his first gig at Tunnel soon after.
